Organisational Structure of Toastmasters International
Toastmasters International
is a worldwide organisation, with around 180,000 members in 8,500 clubs in 60 countries around the world, including Antarctica, Swaziland and Kuwait!
You've probably heard members talking about Area, District, TI Headquarters, etc, and are probably confused about how it all fits together. It works like this:
- You - the most important part of Toastmasters
- Club - Several members (usually 20 or more)
- Area - Several clubs within a geographical area
- Division - Several areas within a geographical area
- District - Several divisions within a geographical area
- Regions - (only applies in USA)
- Toastmasters International (World HQ, Santa Ana, CA, USA
Where Manuka Toastmaster Club fits in:
- Manuka Club has over 20 members, and is part of Area 7 (along with Queanbeyan, Civic and Majura).
- Area 7 is part of Monaro Division (along with Areas 7, 17, 19, 26, 27 and 43).
- Monaro Division is part of District 70 (along with Central, Eastern, Hawkesbury, Northern, Phillip, Southern, and Western Divisions).
- District 70 encompasses (most of) NSW and the ACT, and includes over 200 Clubs.
Other Districts in Australia are:
- District 69 which includes Queensland, NT, northern NSW and Papua New Guinea.
- District 73 which includes VIC, TAS, SA and WA.
